Born in Utah but deeply rooted in Saline, Michigan, for the past 22 years, I have nurtured a lifelong passion for drawing and painting, guided by the beauty of the natural world. From an early age, I discovered joy in these creative pursuits, and it quickly became evident that I wanted to pursue a career as an artist. Inspired by the emphasis on technique found in classical art, I have developed a representational style that reflects my deep connection to nature, people, and especially wildlife.
My fascination with wildlife began as a child, exploring the landscapes around my home. This early love for animals has since evolved into a commitment to capturing the unique spirit of each creature I paint. My recent work is fueled by this passion, using my favorite mediums—pastels, charcoal, oil, and colored pencils—to bring these creatures to life on paper and canvas. Charcoal allows me to create with precision, defining my compositions and exploring a range of values and mark-making, while pastels attract me for their vibrant, rich palette and their ability to produce beautiful luminosity.
Throughout the creative process, I feel a deep connection to the essence of these amazing creatures, aiming not only to create a beautiful and meaningful piece of art but also to draw attention to wildlife preservation. My intention is to encourage viewers to contemplate their relationship with nature and the importance of protecting these incredible species.
I hold a BFA with a concentration in painting and drawing from the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan. Additionally, I studied figure drawing and fresco painting at SACI College of Art and Design in Florence, Italy, and continue to refine my craft by seeking lessons from master oil and pastel artists.
My work has garnered recognition in the local art scene, with pieces like “Eagle Owl” and “Red Eyed Green Tree Frog” being selected for display in Art Around Saline, a prestigious local exhibition that celebrates the creativity of Saline’s artists. “Eagle Owl” can be seen at City Hall and “Tree Frog” on the side of Mac’s Restaurant.
